Apple sells 2 million iPods as profits break $100mn

Apple yesterday reported its highest profit in four years after selling more than two million iPods in the three months to 25 September. iPod sales were up 245 per cent on the previous quarter, reaching 2,016,000, with the holiday shopping season still to come. Google signs deal with Nokia

Mobile phone giant Nokia is set to announce a deal with Google that will see Google Talk offered on the Nokia 770 portable Internet Tablet. The announcement, due to be made on Tuesday, will allow 770 owners to have voice conversations and perform instant messaging on the device. The 770 Internet Tablet, which currently costs ?245 in the UK, runs the Linux-based Tablet 2005 software and currently offers a web browser, email client, Internet radio, media player and notebook. ...more

Hong Kong movie pirate sentenced

A Hong Kong man convicted of movie piracy using the BitTorrent service has been sentenced to three months. Unemployed 38-year-old Chan Nai-ming was convicted last month of distributing three movies: Daredevil, Red Planet and Miss Congeniality; making him the first BitTorrent user to be successfully prosecuted for the offence. BT takes crown in consumer broadband survey

BT was the best-performer among leading broadband ISPs, according to a new quarterly survey of ADSL services. Behind BT came Virgin, Demon, AOL and Orange (formerly Wanadoo). Hatto husband admits music CD hoax

The husband of late pianist Joyce Hatto has confessed to passing off other classical recording as her work. In a letter to the BIS record label, William Barrington-Coupe admitted to the fraud, which was uncovered after listeners inserted her CDs into a computer, only to get track information from the Internet for another artist altogether.
