Aibo receives 40,000 orders

The virtual dog that's making all the headlines proves he's not a flash in the pan. Sony has revealed that it has received 40,000 orders for the new version of its robot dog Aibo in the four weeks since its launch on November. Transmeta unveils new mobile processor

Transmeta launched its latest Crusoe CPU at the Stanford University Hot Chips conference yesterday, and says that it has begun shipping the processor to customers. The Crusoe TM5600 is a high-performance processor for notebook computers, and generates extremely low heat and power consumption. Like its predecessor, the TM5400, the new chip runs at 700MHz and is based on Transmeta's 128-bit VLIW (Very Long Instruction Word) processor architecture. ...more
