BBC rushes to Planet Earth editing competition

Ahead of the showing on Sunday of the first part of Planet Earth, David Attenbrough's latest natural history series, the BBC has made unbroadcast rushes available through its Creative Archive initiative. The corporation is running a competition for novice editors - using its online Easy Edit Suite application - to create a short advertisement for the programme using the rushes and other footage and images available in the archive. Music downloads store Wippit has started offering customers the chance to edit music files online to create customised ringtones for their mobiles. Wippit Ringtones lets users take a full length track and select a clip of up to 30 seconds via the graphical interface. Music labels sue file sharing LimeWire

The music industry has its legal sights set on LimeWire, the file-sharing network. Labels owned by all the major groups - Universal Music, Sony BMG, EMI and Warner Music - haved filed their suit in a Manhattan court, reports Reuters.
