Skype VoIP the springboard for headsets, hopes Plantronics

Plantronics has big plans to use Internet phone call start up Skype as a springboard for pushing sales of its headsets. The company sees VoIP calling services as a big opportunity to sell its headsets, and the surging interest in Skype - currently gaining 80,000 new users a week - as the perfect platform. RIAA hit with anti-racketeering lawsuit

The Recording Industry of America has been sued under anti-racketeering laws by one of the people it is suing for alleged file sharing. Michele Scimeca from New Jersey is charging the RIAA with extortion, violating laws originally enacted to prosecute the Mafia. She has previously been sued by the RIAA which believes she uploaded 1,400 songs via KaZaA. ...more

Google silent over US Government subpoena

Google stays schtum on user behaviour following US Government subpoena Google is refusing to hand over information on queries submitted to, and websites available on, through the Internet giant's servers, despite being subpoenaed by the US Government. The company says the Justice Department's requests are overreaching and that complying would jeopardise its users' privacy.
