HP to make 'Web 2.0 printing' easier

HP is to unveil a host of new web applications, which it claims will make printing from user generated content and social media websites easier. The company claims that 48% of web printing occurs at home, but many consumer-oriented sites, including travel websites, 'have limited or non-existent printing capabilities.' HP is working with map providers ViaMichelin and blogging specialists SixApart to create home and business applications capable of printing user generated content from blogs, forums and interactive sites. ...more

Sasser boy behind two-thirds of virus activity

Security company Sophos claims that the man behind the Sasser and NetSky viruses has caused 70 per cent of the virus activity it has seen reported in the first half of this year. Sven Jaschan, a teenager from a small town in Germany, was arrested in May after Microsoft received a tip-off from one his close associates hoping for a slice of the $250,000 bounty offered for information leading to such an event. Although Jaschan's case has yet to be tried, he has already admitted to police and later in an interview for a magazine that he was behind the Sasser and NetSky worms that have plagued computer users this year. ...more

The .info domain is the online equivalent of an unsafe neighbourhood, according to a new study. The latest SiteAdvisor report from anti-virus company McAfee found that registering at a site or downloading a file can be significantly more risky when done at certain domains. ...more
