International phishing gang seized by the Bulgarians

Bulgarian authorities claim to have arrested a gang involved in an international phishing operation. The Bulgarian law-enforcement National Services to Combat Organized Crime (NSCOC) agency said it arrested eight people during raids last week in three Bulgarian cities in connection with financial fraud and identity-theft scams carried out over the Internet. The gang allegedly used spoofed emails that were designed to look as if they were from MSN customer services as well as web pages mocked up to look like MSN content to dupe their victims. ...more

Computer Aid International, the world's largest non-profit supplier of professionally refurbished PCs for schools in developing countries, announced today that it has reached a landmark milestone by refurbishing and shipping its 50,000th PC. Computer Aid International specialises in recycling and refurbishing Pentium class computers and sending them out to equip schools and not-for-profit organisations in developing countries. Sony clamps down on the PlayStation Portable grey market

Sony has begun to clamp down on grey market imports of the PlayStation Portable ahead of the official European launch on 1 September. The launch of the gaming and movie playing PSP was put back six months after its success in Japan and then the US caused supply shortages. As a result enterprising retailers have been importing them from those two countries and selling them at a premium. ...more
