Internet paedophile "predator" gets five years

A paedophile was jailed for five years yesterday for luring a 13-year-old girl to his home for sex after gaining her trust in an Internet chat room. Patrick Green, 33, from Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, was arrested on his way to Cumbria to meet a 14-year-old girl he had befriended, posing as a teenage boy, in a chat room called Younger Girls for Older Men. Green was sentenced to five years on four counts of unlawful sex with a child, one charge of attempted intercourse and two counts of indecent assault at Aylesbury crown court. ...more

Dixons posts strong results, bucks IT trend

Dixons has proved that not every technology retailer must embrace disaster with a five per cent increase in profits in the twelve months ending 28 April. The high street darling produced results at the upper end of analysts' estimates, which is remarkable considering nearly every other retailer dealing with IT products has issued profit warnings and revised estimates. Sources say Microsoft to face heavy fines from EU

Microsoft is facing stiff fines after an EU advisory committee found the company has broken European Union antitrust law, according a report by Reuters. The decision is likely to be announced as negotiations between the EU and Microsoft over a compromise are said to have stalled. The Committee is expected to recommend a fine running to hundreds of millions of euros, at its next meeting on 22 March. ...more
