Hackers are capitalising on World Cup Fever, says security company Sophos, and a new macro virus hidden inside an Excel formula posing as a quick way to create a fantasy football league has been discovered. Once run, Yagnuul-A copies itself into every open Excel worksheet on the target computer and creates files of the form 'LuuNGayDD-MM-YYYYORIG.xls', where DD-MM-YYYY is today's date and ORIG is the name of an legitimate file on the system. ...more

Intel could exit entry-level chipset market

Intel plans to phase out its 865 and 915PL/GL chipsets in the fourth quarter and exit the entry-level chipset market, sources with motherboard makers revealed. Intel has only told some first-tier mobo makers and OEM clients about the decision, and the company is not expected to make a public announcement, the sources said. AOL has apologised for a 'slower than desirable' broadband service and assured users that it is working with BT to solve the problem. Users have been experiencing slowdown for about a week. Record industry scuppers Tiscali online music

The European recording industry is virtually impossible to work with in the promotion of legal music online, according to Tiscali, which says it has been 'forced' to turn off its music streaming service by recalcitrant record labels. The ISP says that a dispute over interactive rights means that it can no longer provide the Tiscali Juke Box service, which it launched in the UK and Italy on 26 April.
