Security firm McAfee has unveiled a beta version of its 'Falcon' integrated consumer security service platform. The software suite that comprises anti-virus, anti-spyware, and what McAfee is calling 'proactive threat watch' technologies. UK to investigate e-government by digital TV

The UK government has outlines some policy guidelines on how it might deliver information and services by digital TV (DTV). It is estimated that 45 per cent of UK households now have DTV either through Freeview, cable or satellite and the government sees an opportunity to allow the public to communicate through the interactive services it can offer. Oracle brings JDeveloper 10g to OS X

Enterprise database giant Oracle has announced that it is to make its Java application development framework available to OS X users. Oracle JDeveloper 10g is a J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) development environment for Java and Web services, and is exactly the sort of high-profile enterprise product Apple will love to see on OS X, given its efforts in the server and RAID fields. Pathe publishes to the Net

British Pathe makes all 2,000 hours of published newsreel available online In a project funded by the National Lottery, British Pathe has put all the newsreels and cinemagazines online as digital videos. The archive offers 2,000 hours of footage, more than 90,000 individual items, spanning 60 years from 1910 to 1970. What is available now is everything that was shown in cinemas, which includes the the Wright brothers' first flight and footage of the Titanic. ...more
