Google denies reports of iPhone rival

Despite reports to the contrary in the Spanish press last week, Google has now denied claims that it is working on a rival to the iPhone. A representative of Google, which shares a board member with Apple and is a key services supplier for the iPhone, had previously been quoted as saying the company was working on a mobile as a means of accessing information on the move. Microsoft prepares to open Windows

Microsoft has revealed how it will modify Windows XP to comply with last year's agreement that the company must allow PC manufacturers (OEMs) to include software from other developers on new machines. The company will release a 40Mb service pack update that will introduce a new option on the Windows Start menu - Set Program Access and Defaults tool - which will allow the user or OEM to hide Microsoft applications such as Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player and Outlook.
