Google results displease Wall Street

Google's share price slumped during after hours trading after the company missed Wall Street expectations in its latest financial results. At one stage the price had fallen by 19 per cent, wiping $20bn off Google's value after quarterly earnings were 13 per cent less than predicted. Intel hears the 64bit call

According to a report on Reuters, an Intel chief has been making encouraging noises about desktop support for 64-bit processing. Paul Ottelini, Intel's president and COO, is quoted as saying 'You can be fairly confident that when there is software from an application and operating system standpoint that we'll be there.' AMD Athlon FX-53 puts the boot into Pentium EE

AMD is to launch another version of its 64-bit Athlon processor in a bid to trump Intel's 'spoiler' Pentium Extreme Edition in the run-up to Christmas.
