Nokia damns iPhone with faint praise

Apple's iPhone is an interesting product, but its sales goal is not very high, the head of the multimedia unit at Nokia, Anssi Vanjoki, was quoted as saying on Thursday. Apple unveiled its much-anticipated version of a smart phone on Tuesday, presenting a sleek device with a large screen that combines a phone, an iPod and instant messaging. Businesses fear reporting pornography - IWF survey

More than two-thirds of businesses would not tell the authorities if they found child pornography on their systems, for fear of prosecution, according to the Internet Watch Foundation. The IWF survey reveals that while only 27 per cent of those polled would report such materials to the authorities, those that felt unable to may take confidence from a recent agreement 'between the police and the CPS [that] states that IT managers may preserve such material and records on their systems for the explicit purpose of providing access to law enforcement'. This new understanding is based on increased evidence that malware such as Trojans can infect systems and allow remote attackers to place such material within compromised corporate networks. ...more

Intel verifies Connexion by Boeing for in-flight WiFi

Aircraft maker Boeing and Intel have signed a deal to promote the Connexion by Boeing in-flight wireless Internet service. As part of the agreement the companies have said that Connexions by Boeing is the first in-flight Internet service to be verified through Intel's Wireless Verification Program. Adobe offers plug-in for on-the-fly web editing

Adobe has released a plugin for GoLive CS2 that enables Web authors to create areas on a website that can subsequently be edited and updated by another party without having to resort to the original code. Like Macromedia's similar Contribute tool, Adobe Co-Author lets designers designate editable regions of a site. Then the co-author, the ongoing editor uses the same application to make their changes, without needing to know any HTML or more complex code. ...more

HP adds email to its latest camera

Hewlett-Packard has announced the latest addition to its range of digital cameras, the Photosmart 812, which includes the ability to 'tag' each picture taken with information that determines where the picture is stored or sent. As pictures are taken, the user can tag each picture with, for example, an email address or a printer destination. After the camera is connected to a computer, the tags are read and the pictures automatically printed or emailed as specified. ...more
