Oftel gives high-priority ADSL exchanges an Easter deadline

Oftel called an emergency meeting between itself, BT and other UK telcos to address mounting concerns over BT's unbundling of local exchanges and the lack of interest from operators. The result of the apparently constructive meeting is that Oftel has pulled forward the deadline for the opening of the more popular exchanges to before Easter, and BT will begin taking orders for these next month. New virus threat poses as Microsoft security email

Security experts are warning of a bogus email purporting to be from Microsoft, but which may dupe the recipient into downloading a dangerous Trojan horse virus. With Microsoft's monthly security update due on Tuesday, the virus DSNX-05 or Wupdate-20050401 is effectively timed as the public expect security news from Redmond during this period. It is initiated with an email that urges the recipient to follow a link to a website that uses images from Microsoft's security pages to appear genuine. ...more

IE7 beta is the bait for Grum malware

Despite the full version of IE7 being released last October, hackers are trying to deceive users to download malware posing as a beta version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7.
