HP is planning a summer launch of Linux PCs to the Far East The Nihon Keizai Shimbun business daily said it had learned from the California-based company that it would launch desktops using the Open Source operating system into 12 Asian countries this June, including Japan, China, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and India. Canon has developed a printer that will print information from digital TV broadcasts, a business that it hopes will be worth around ?500m by 2010. The inkjet printer will launch in Japan next year for the equivalent of approximately ?250, with US and European launches to follow at an unspecified later date.
