Storm worm wreaks havoc over weekend

Security company F-Secure report says that the gang which launched a computer virus trading on people's interest in the storms that hit Europe last week has issued more malware over the weekend. First discovered on Friday, Storm Worm was spammed out over the weekend and hit Europe and the east coast of the US particularly hard. Since then, a new Trojan along with numerous variants have been spammed out in emails that make outrageous claims based on current news trends, such as missiles shooting down satellites, or that Saddam Hussein has been seen alive. ...more

Google is looking to capitalise on the fast growing music downloads market with the introduction of a 'music search' function to its standard search interface. Having noticed that a lot of people search for information about music (its amazing what you can find out when you have 3,000 PhDs in Computer Science working for you), Google is now offering a single box at the top of a results page that it has decided is about music. Yahoo! follows Google into the research labs

Yahoo! has announced the formation of research labs to develop new Web search technologies. The labs will look at ways in which Yahoo!'s position as the most visited site on the Internet can be exploited, both to increase its popularity and to commercially exploit it.
