The ADSL rumble rolls on

Grievances about BT's handling of the ADSL roll-out are continuing to surface. The latest developments concern the allocation of ADSL products by BT to its own OpenWorld service, and Freeserve is making noises about legal action. While BTOpenWorld's share of installed ADSL circuits continue to increase, Freeserve is complaining that its installations for broadband access (which are carried out by BT) are running at a meagre 29 a day. ...more

Laptop theft hits Met police staff

Thieves stole three laptops containing details of the Metropolitan Police payroll, Scotland Yard confirmed. The laptops were stolen last Thursday from the offices of LogicaCMG, the company responsible the Met's pay and pension services. Creative to acquire 3Dlabs

Creative Technology has announced it is to acquire 3Dlabs Inc as a subsidiary company pending government and shareholder approval. The cash and stocks deal would see 3Dlabs' high-end graphics technology at Creative's disposal along with a heap of IP rights and patents.
