WebKit opens a Web Inspector palette

The WebKit Open Source Project has added a new Web Inspector palette to developer builds of WebKit, the system framework used by Apple's Safari as well as other browsers and applications. The inspector lets you browse the live DOM hierarchy in a compact window. A new range of devices from Be Incorporated could see MP3 and streamed media moving out of the office and into the living room. The Aura specification sees a device at the heart of a home entertainment system that can encode music to MP3 and other formats from analogue and digital sources as well as downloading files from the Internet, via an in-built modem. SuSE sings Opera

Opera Software, the Web browser company, has tied up a deal with SuSE to feature the Opera browser in future Linux distributions. The deal represents Opera's first major Linux distribution agreement, although Opera has previously supported the Linux platform. McAfee to be reborn as a company again

Network Associates has decided to streamline its business solely around security products and services. As part of this strategy it is renaming itself as McAfee and selling off its Sniffer network management product line.
