In the run up to next Monday's annual Valentine's Day lovefest, British singletons are flocking to dating sites according to online monitor Hitwise. Over the last year, the number of dating websites in the UK has grown from 708 to 821, a growth of 16 per cent. Skype founders turn to TV

The founders of Kazaa and Skype are about to embark on a new venture. Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis have begun work to develop software for distributing TV shows and other forms of video over the Web The new venture is called 'The Venice Project' and, according to Business Week which uncovered the story, the pair already have development teams developing the software in a number of cities around the world including London, New York and Venice. Laptop users may soon be able to abandon their power cables for good after researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology discovered wireless electricity. Scientists have known that electric power can be transferred wirelessly since 1831, when Michael Faraday discovered that current flowing through one wire induces a current in a neighbouring wire.
