Palm sticks with Palm platform for Treo 680 launch

The handheld giant has released its latest smartphone running Palm OS but users must wait and see if a Windows Mobile version will follow Palm has launched its second smartphone in as many months by making its Treo 680 device available to users from today. But unlike its predecessor, the Treo 750v, which was launched last month, Palm's latest offering will only run the Palm OS initially. Canon extends colour range with new printer

Canon has introduced the 'world's first' eight-colour A3 printer, the 4800x2400 Bubble Jet i950. In addition to the standard CMYK inks and the increasingly common light cyan and light magenta, the i9550 has red and green inks, which should increase the total colour range that the printer is capable of reproducing. A significant proportion of reds and greens fall outside the gamut of traditional CMYK printers. ...more

Sky signs up Google services

Sky users to get Sky-branded Google Mail email accounts, a user-generated video portal, plus Google search and ad services Sky has announced a multi-year agreement with search giant and YouTube-owner Google to offer Sky users a range of Sky-branded Google services. As owner of YouTube, Google will help Sky set up and run a video service for its subscribers, allowing them to upload, edit and share video clips via PCs and mobile phones. Palm faces legal battle

Handheld device and software manufacturer Palm faces a potentially very serious legal threat from two Californians who allege that Palm handhelds damaged their PCs. The Pinnacle Law Group of San Francisco filed the lawsuit on Tuesday, seeking a class-action status. The suit alleges that the use of the Palm devices' 'hotsync' function, "damages or destroys the motherboards of certain PC brands", but does not specify which PC and Palm models are involved. ...more
