UK games chart: Saints Row hits number one

The Disney PIXAR movie spin-off, Cars, has finally been shunted from pole position by Saints Row. THQ's third-person gang warfare game for the Xbox 360 shoots straight in at number one. THQ's Cars (DS, GBA, GC, PC, PS2, PSP, Xb, Wii and Xb360) stays one place ahead of Nintendo's New Super Mario Bros (DS), which is at number three in its tenth week in the chart. ...more

Hewlett-Packard board to oust Walter Hewlett

Management at Hewlett-Packard has excluded Walter Hewlett from the nominees to the HP Board of Directors, which was announced to today. The decision to remove Mr Hewlett comes on the back of Hewlett filing a lawsuit on 28 March against HP alleging that the company misinformed HP shareholders over the Compaq merger and threatened Deutsche Bank with withholding future business unless the bank switched its vote in favour of the merger. This litigation itself comes a day after the HP board unanimously agreeing to re-nominate Hewlett after apparently successful discussions between him and Sam Ginn, chairman of the board's nominating and governance committee, to re-establish a constructive working relationship. ...more

PalmSource unveils its first Linux operating system

PalmSource has unveiled the first Linux version of the its operating system for smartphones and mobile devices. Now a wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese company Access, PalmSource has dropped the Palm OS label in favour of the less-catchy Access Linux Platform (ALP).
