South Korea plans Linuxville

South Korea is planning to build a Linux city and university which will be used to test whether the open source software can succeed Windows as the principal operating system. The scheme was announced last week by the country's Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) which invited existing universities and local governments to apply to host the Linux enclaves. Microsoft invites Mozilla over

Microsoft has invited Mozilla developers over to Redmond so that the open source team can have discussions to ensure that the Firefox browser and the Thunderbird mail client work smoothly with Vista. The invitation is to a four-day event that will be held in Redmond every week until December 2006. Sunbelt Software acquires Kerio Personal Firewall

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but Sunbelt Software has announced that it will acquire Kerio Technologies' Personal Firewall product. This will be re-branded, temporarily, as the Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall, with all existing customers receiving support through Sunbelt once the acquisition is completed, which is expected to be before the end of the month.
