Golden joysticks: winners give their verdicts

After an absence of five years, The Golden Joysticks awards returned in fine style last Friday, with a dazzling awards ceremony taking place at London's Dorchester Hotel. Hosted by Dennis Interactive, the ceremony was presented by TV presenter and all-round wit Jonathan Ross, with the cream of the games industry in attendance. Dell sets itself $80bn sales target

Dell has set itself a target of $80 billion in annual saleses in the next few years. By strange coincidence that happens to be the same as the revenue level of arch rival Hewlett Packard CEO Kevin Rollins, unveiled the target whilst reassuring analysts that the company was on course to hit this year's goal of $60bn in sales. UK to outlaw possession of violent porn

The UK government is planning to outlaw possession of violent pornography found on the Internet. The proposals would cover material which 'appears to be life threatening or likely to result in serious, disabling injury'. The move would close a legal loophole that exists at the moment that means that although it is illegal in Britain to publish or distribute the material, it can be legally possessed. ...more

Ergosoft to market PS2 browser

If you are one of the 165,000 lucky PlayStation 2 owners in the UK, you will be happy to hear that an Internet browser could soon be available for your brand-spanking new console. Ergosoft has signed an exclusive deal with Planetweb to market the software that they are developing for the PlayStation 2. Ergosoft hopes to have the browser on sale in Japan by the end of March 2001 and has an option to make the application available to other companies, so that it can be bundled with PS2 peripherals or software. ...more
