AMD wins move to access Intel docs for antitrust probe

AMD has won its battle in the US Supreme Court to allow the European Commission to request documents from arch-rival Intel as part of its anti-competition investigation. The Supreme Court ruled 7 to 1 that US law 'authorizes, but does not require, the District Court to provide discovery aid to AMD`. In 2000 AMD filed an antitrust complaint against Intel with the European Commission, alleging that Intel had violated European competition law. ...more

Greenpeace ejected from MacExpo

Greenpeace was yesterday thrown out of MacExpo, after the organisers said that they had received complaints about the activities of activists for the environmental campaign group. Visitors to the show reportedly objected to the large number of activists who were leafleting at the entrance to London's Olympia exhibition centre, while companies, including Apple, are said to have been unhappy with their antics inside the venue. Greenpeace recently attacked Apple for its use of toxic chemicals in its products and 'poor' performance on take back and recycling. ...more

Microsoft bins Vista 'scrap metal'

Bowing to user pressure, Microsoft says it plans to change the 'Basic' Vista appearance, following complaints from beta testers that the Basic UI is ugly. In the Windows Vista Team Blog, Vista Community leader Nick White admits the developers have heard the complaints 'loud and clear' and plans to improve the design before final release. However, the company is not yet giving a firm date when the new appearance will turn up in the beta cycle. ...more
