Dutch teenagers arrested over DoS attack

Dutch police have collared two teenagers, accusing them of launching denial of service attacks on government websites. The two boys from the southern Dutch town of Breda were arrested last week after police raided their homes and seized compute equipment. A US company has begun offering iPods for sale with preloaded content ripped from DVDs. TVMyPod converts the DVD content to the iPod format but insists that the customer buys the DVDs as well as the player. 21st century jury to be selected by computer

Over the next three months an automated jury selection system is to be implemented in courts throughout England and Wales. Yesterday six courts applied to a Central Summoning Bureau for its jurors electronically. The computer system randomly selects jurors from electoral rolls and issues summonses. ...more

SCO keeps the litigious hat with Novell

In a teleconference on Friday, SCO refuted Novell's claimed ownership of Unix copyrights and patents, with CEO Darl McBride saying: 'We'll be settling these issues in court'. Novell's assertion that the 1995 sale of Unix to SCO did not include the transfer of copyrights and patents is wrong, claimed McBride - a former executive at Novell.
