ATI climbs on board AMD's dual-core Turion

Fujifilm has announced a breakthrough in magnetic data storage, with its prototype NANO CUBIC technology that can boost the capacity of current forms of media tenfold. NANO CUBIC technology uses an ultra-thin layer coating that boasts low noise and high signal to noise ratios making it ideal for rewritable data media. Applications for such a technology include high-capacity floppy disks, high definition and long duration digital videotape of broadcast quality, and backup media for both data and video. ...more

NTT announces holographic memory breakthrough

The Japanese telecommunications giant NTT has been pushing the boundaries of holographic storage. It's not quite 'Hamlet on the holo-deck' yet, in terms of three-dimensional imaging, but the holographic principles of light interference patterns are being used for a high-capacity storage device. Called Info-MICA (Information-Multilayered Imprinted CArd), the new memory is capable of storing 1GB of data within the size of a postage stamp, reports NE Asia Online. ...more
