iPods put company networks and data at risk

iPods and other portable storage devices pose a major threat to corporate security, according to technology analyst Gartner. The unauthorised and uncontrolled use of such devices, whether music players, hard drives or flash memory key drives, poses two threats: viruses or other malicious code could be introduced to the network; and sensitive data could be copied to the device, either inadvertently or deliberately. BT to speed up broadband ISP switching

BT Wholesale is planning an overhaul of ADSL migration procedures, the means by which broadband users can switch ISP. ADSL Guide reports that the new system will be based on a Migration Authorisation Code (MAC) issued by the existing ISP, permitting the connection to be switched to the new ISP. It should reduce the time for migrations from around 10 days to just a few minutes. ...more

MSN takes downloads fight to Apple

Microsoft has announced an expansion of its MSN Music Store, adding eight new countries to bring the total number covered to 17.
