Microsoft and Samsung strike patent licensing deal

Microsoft and Samsung have announced that they have entered into a broad patent cross-licensing agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Samsung will get access to Microsoft patents for technologies that are deployed in a range of current and future product lines - including computer products, set-top boxes, digital media players, camcorders, televisions, printers and home appliances. Borland bundles for e-business

Borland has put together a collection of software design and development tools - entitled Borland Enterprise Studio Java Edition, or "The Studio" - that targets Java-based e-commerce applications. Bundling together its JBuilder Enterprise Edition with programs from Rational Software and Macromedia, the collection is meant to provide a complete design, development and management system. UK ISP Andrews & Arnold has begun offering its broadband ADSL customers an IPv6 service, which could pave the way for an end to IP rationing. Under the current 32-bit IPv4 system, the shortage of IP numbers means that users are allocated an IP address each time they connect to the Internet.
