BT and BSkyB grab Premiership rights

BT has announced it has won rights to show Premiership matches throughout the 2007-8, 2008-9 and 2009-10 seasons. In a joint bid with BSkyB, the companies will have access to 242 matches each season with the rights to broadcast them on 'near-live'. Matches will be available on-demand from 10pm on the day of a given match and for another 50 hours on a pay per view basis. ...more

Yahoo! to show cable news clips

Internet portal, Yahoo! has signed a deal to offer video clips from two of the US's biggest cable news network CNN and ABC News according to Reuters. The news clips service will go live on Yahoo in September. It will be freely available and be supported by advertising and be integrated with Yahoo! News. ...more

UPDATED: Real claims a million tracks a week in music promo

Real Networks sold three million songs in three weeks, the company has announced, as it ends its 49 per song promotion on its online music store. What proportion of those were bought by iPod owners exploiting Real's Harmony technology which hacks Apple's digital rights management is not known. Apple has said that it will close this loophole and if it does it will leave a lot of Real customers with songs that they can no longer carry around. ...more
