Intel primes the investment pumps for the Digital Home

Intel has dipped into its $200 million Digital Home Fund to make three new investments in companies specialising in home networking technology. The aim of the Fund is to kickstart new services for digital entertainment and provide a bridge between PC and consumer electronic devices. The recipients of the latest round of Intel's largesse are Gteko, a software company providing support for the first-time set up of home networks, Synacor, a portal specialist for education and entertainment content, and Zinio Systems, a distributor of digital magazines that replicate the look and feel of printed versions. ...more

IBM commits to Linux, whether SUSE or Red Hat

IBM has deepened its Linux commitment by forging deals to preload the platform on its products. The company yesterday announced agreements with Novell and Red Hat that allow it to sell its products with either the SUSE or Red Hat Linux platforms preloaded.
