Sanyo unveils 730MB digital camera

Sanyo has unveiled its new IDC-1000Z iDshot camera capable of filming up to 120 minutes of digital video footage or storing as many as 11,000 still images. The camera is built around Sanyo's new HRGP graphics processor, allowing video to be recorded in VGA resolution (640x480) at 30 frames per second and enabling 'high-speed' consecutive still shooting. Microsoft appeals must-carry Java ruling

Agreeing to disagree. As expected, no sooner had Microsoft agreed the terms of an injunction to add Sun's Java environment to Windows, but it has now filed an appeal. The emergency motion seeks to stay the order entered into court by Judge J Frederick Motz that Microsoft must carry Sun's Java within 120 days, which is described as 'extreme and unprecedented'. ...more

Intel goes 64-bit for MMX for mobiles

With the boom in 3G phones and video streaming to mobile devices showing no sign of abating, Intel has said that it has developed a new version of its MMX multimedia technology for mobile devices. The new version, Wireless MMX2, offers 64-bit extensions to improve video streaming and offer better battery life to a new generation of mobile phones. MMX2 is a set of 64-bit Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) instructions similar to the Streaming SIMD Extensions (SSE) that Intel introduced for the x86 instruction set. ...more
