'New Pentium core, laptops and 64 bit servers' abound on Intel rumour mill

Intel is to redesign the new Prescott core found within Pentium 4E processors, reports Xbit Labs. According to the Californian website, Intel is looking to reduce the power dissipation of the recently unveiled chip, which is manufactured on a new 90nm process. Quantum computing jumps to the future

Two Swiss scientists have made a theoretical breakthrough that could bring the age a quantum computing a step nearer. Hans-Andreas Engel and Daniel Loss of the University of Basel in Switzerland have explained how to make a device called a spin-parity meter, quantum computing's equivalent of the transistor. Macromedia unveils MX 2004 line-up

Macromedia has announced a complete overhaul of its Web authoring and development tools, with the unveiling of the MX 2004 range. As well as new versions of Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks, the range includes a new application, Flash Professional that, 'enables developers to organise and build applications using a forms-based metaphor as an alternative to traditional timeline development.'
