Mind the gaps

A Friday afternoon story: Reuters reports that a British "media artist" is using custom-designed software to collect the silent gaps between words during 24 hours of BBC Radio 4 broadcasts. Matt Rogalsky will monitor the station on 12 December, compiling a 24 CD set with an hour's worth of nothing on each, and hopes to sell them as a collector's item for $426 a set. Denmark considers separating iTunes store from iPod

According to reports, the Danish government is being petitioned by native companies to follow France and force Apple to break its tight integration of iTunes and the iPod and make its music store DRM-interoperable. Ars Technica reports that the country's largest telco TDC and supermarket Maersk - both of whom operate online music services - have urged Denmark to follow France and introduce legislation that ensures DRM interoperability. UK company in talks for Bluetooth iPods

A UK company is talking to Apple about supplying Bluetooth technology for iPods. Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) approached Apple about the possibility of installing its Bluetooth chipsets into the portable music players.
