Scientists claim screen colour breakthrough

Swiss scientists have developed and produced a computer and TV screen capable of producing the full spectrum of colours within white light, rather than the restricted palette displayed by current technologies. The prototype displays pixels that change colour as a underlying polymer is activated by an electrical current, allowing different wavelengths of light to escape from the screen. Xbox speed may rise to 1GHz

Microsoft has changed its plans for the Xbox console, and intends to boost its speed. The company had originally specified that the machine would contain a 600MHz Pentium III processor, but has now changed tack and is going for a 733MHz version. US rock band The Strokes will star in Radio 1's latest foray into Internet video. After the band's 'intimate' London ULU gig on 5 December has been broadcast on Lamacq Live, the video will be on the station's website for seven days.
