Linux Expo 2002: Penguins on the PlayStation

The Linux kit for PlayStation 2 has been out since May, but what are people doing with it? We caught up with Jason Doig, senior engineer at Sony, to find out just how the take up of the kit is going. He is insistent that the kit is not for gamers but for Linux enthusiasts with experience. Price Check: Graphics Cards

With both of nVidia's and ATi's latest and greatest graphics cards finding their way to the UK, it means the moneyed can up the graphics ante, while those of shallower pockets should see prices fall on those cards that have been usurped. And if there's nothing more annoying than finding what was billed as the best money can buy being superseded just months later - as we've seen with nVidia's new NV35 chipset that has just arrived in the form of the GeForce FX 5900 - at least the erstwhile leader the nVidia FX 5800 card should quickly become that much more affordable. Pro and Neo meet the Visor family

Handspring has updated its Visor range of handheld computers with two new models: the Visor Pro and the Visor Neo. Aimed more at the professional user, the Pro (pictured) carries 16MB of memory - twice the storage capacity of Handspring's previous best models. The Neo, by contrast, is a higher-performance entry-level model, which Handspring claims to be fifty per cent faster than the Visor Deluxe. ...more
