Philips rolls out flexible displays

Roll up for the Philips flexible display, coming our way within the next couple of years, according to the Dutch electronics giant. Using organic electronics technology, Philips has created what it describes as 'the world's thinnest, most flexible, active-matrix display'. Data storage demand set to explode

The demand for data storage is far outstripping that of supply, to the extent that the industry may soon face a crisis, according to Mike Reuttgers, CEO of storage supplier EMC. The comments were made during a keynote speech at the NetworkWorld+Interop event in Atlanta and addressed the issue of many companies finding their requirements for data storage doubling each year. IBM launches new mainframe range

IBM went back to its roots yesterday and rolled out a new line of mainframe computers. The new System z9 line of computers concentrates on key security and virtualisation features. The new machines can process up to one billion transactions per day, double the performance of the Series z990, and process up to 6,000 secure online handshakes per second, around three times as many as the previous generation. ...more
