Apple tackles iPhone interface hacks

Apple has already begun taking action against websites posting links to copies of its iPhone interface. Lawyers for the company contacted MoDaCo on Friday asking site administrator Paul O'Brien to remove a link to a screenshot of a Pocket PC screen that mimics the iPhone interface. In an email, O'Melveny & Myers LLP noted that the iPhone icons and screenshot are copyrighted by Apple Computer - somebody should tell them that the company has dropped Computer from its name - and therefore cannot be displayed or distributed without authorisation. ...more

US TV pirates walk the plank

Yesterday, America's biggest sporting event filled a million TVs across the Home of the Brave, but for some unlucky punters the Superbowl was replaced by static. DirecTV - a US satellite TV service - decided that it would send out electronic counter measures and jam anyone using a pirate access card. The signal was deemed a success and is thought to have killed 100,000 bootleg subscribers, replacing their Superbowl coverage with a snide message saying 'Game Over'. ...more

EA's multi-format football game FIFA 06 keeps the number one spot for the third week running in the ELSPA UK games chart. And there's not much room at the top because EA's Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, holds its position at number two, with Sega's Spartan: Total Warrior (pictured) climbing from eight to three.
