UK games chart: FIFA 07 is number one

The long summer logjam, with Cars dominating the charts, has well and truly broken up as the autumn big-hitters begin to arrive. Palm's CEO steps down

Palm, the maker of handheld computers, has announced that its chief executive Carl Yankowski has resigned. While Palm is under-pressure in the ever-more crowded PDA market - Toshiba was yet another recent entry with the Pocket PC e570 - Yankowski has officially attributed his departure to the splitting of Palm into two elements. The company decided in July to spin off its Platform Solutions Group (responsible for the development of the Palm OS and its licensing) into a wholly-owned subsidiary by the end of 2001. ...more

Students put the iTunes rating system to use

Students at the University of Illinois have developed software that recommends music based on the ratings you have given to tracks in iTunes. The recommendations are generated by comparing your ratings to those of others who are using the software. It even works if you haven't rated your songs, by creating an approximate rating based on the number of times a track has been played. ...more
