HP claims Memory Spot breakthrough

HP's Bristol Labs has announced a breakthrough in chip design: its Memory Spot research team has come up with a complete wireless system in a single chip about the size of a match tip. The Memory Spot chip is between 2mm and 4mm square with current data capacities of up to 4Mbit. Yet it also includes a wireless antenna, capable of transfers with a theoretical limit of 10Mbit/sec, putting it on a par with early WiFi standards. ...more

eBay launches Express marketplace

Auction site eBay has officially thrown open the doors to its fixed price marketplace to be known as eBay Express. Although eBay has featured the 'Buy It Now' button on its lists of items for sale for some years now, eBay Express puts all of the fixed price non-auction items in one place to make it easier for customers to shop immediately rather than wait to see if their bid has been successful. Old media takes last stand against 'the Googles of the world'

Leading media executives took a combative tone against Internet companies on Tuesday, suggesting that Big Media increasingly considers new content distributors like Google to be more foe than friend. At a panel discussion on the second day of the 56th annual National Cable & Telecommunications Association conference, top executives said talk of the demise of traditional media in the digital age was overblown.
