FairUse4WM crackers threaten Microsoft DRM defence

No sooner had Microsoft closed a hole in its PlaysForSure DRM technology than the FairUse4WM crackers opened another one. Last week Microsoft issued a patch to PlaysForSure clients, such as Napster, to disable the ability of the FairUse4WM software to strip the DRM from music files. Novell kick-starts a new group collaboration open-source project

Novell has kick-started an open-source project to build a group collaboration server with a donation of 200,000 lines of code from its own NetMail product. The Hula project includes standards-based e-mail, calendaring and address book functionality that can scale to 250,000 registered users on a single PC with 50,000 simultaneously connected users. Taiwanese manufacturer Soltek announces new 'Prescott' motherboards

Mobo manufacturer Soltek has launched a new 'Pro' top of the line motherboard, which is said to support the new 'Prescott' range of Intel Pentium processors due out by the end of the year. The SL-865Pro-FGR mainboard supports Intel Socket 478 microprocessors and Hyper Threading technology. The mobo is based around the Intel 865PE chipset and features a 400/533/800 MHz Front Side Bus and supports Dual Channel DDR SDRAM running at speeds of 400, 333 and 266 MHz. ...more
