PC Pro: Price of Labs-winning notebook to rise

Misco has today informed us that the cost price (that is, the price Misco pays the manufacturer) of the HP Compaq nx6125 bundle, which won the PC Pro group test in the latest issue, has risen by ?50. The bundle will now cost ?769 (?904 inc VAT) rather than ?720 (?846 inc VAT). HP says that the price rise is due to the increased cost of components and the drop in the pound-dollar rate. ...more

Xbox 360 set for December UK launch

Microsoft has dated the release of its second-generation Xbox games console, the Xbox 360. It will be appearing on shop shelves on Tuesday 22 November in North America, then Friday 2 December in Europe, followed by Japan on Saturday 10 December. The announcement was made on the eve of Tokyo Game Show 2005, and Microsoft emphasises that it is the first time that a games console will be launched in three territories within the same time frame. ...more

P2P traffic streams to BitTorrent

BitTorrent is fast becoming the leading p2p network as video surpasses music as the most popularly shared content medium, according to a survey by iPoque. Indeed figures from its analysis of German Internet usage show that BitTorrent has already usurped eDonkey in terms of the amount of data traffic that each protocol generates: BitTorrent 53 per cent and eDonkey 43 per cent.
