UK games chart: Elder Scrolls hold off Marlon Brando

It's all change in this weeks ELSPA UK games chart. EA's FIFA Street 2 (PSP, PS2, XB and DS) is knocked from the top of the charts, down to four, and there are two new entries in the top three. EU regs force Apple to pull products

Apple will stop European sales of several products at the end of this week in order to comply with the EU's Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) directive, AppleInsider reports. The website says that the iSight, AirPort Base Station With Modem, AirPort Base Station Power Over Ethernet and Antenna, iPod shuffle External Battery Pack and the eMac will be discontinued. All are said to contain banned substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and brominated flame retardants. ...more

Apple delays Leopard release until October

Apple has announced that Mac OS X 10.5 will not be released, as previously expected, in June, but has been delayed until October. In a statement the company explained that in order to meet its June deadline for the release of the iPhone, many development resources that would otherwise have been deployed on Leopard have instead been deployed on the widescreen iPod-phone-Internet communicator. ...more

Sony to extend its CD DRM experiment

Sony BMG, the music arm of the consumer electronics giant, is stepping up the introduction new anti-copying software for a range of its music CDs. A total of ten CD titles, covering over a million produced copies, have now been introduced using DRM software from a British company.
