Wanadoo is to offer a 2Mb service to complement its existing 1Mb service. Napster cornered by new legal move

It's not quite checkmate, but Napster's opponents are closing in, as they make another significant move to constrain its song-swapping operation. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) - a trade group that represents the US recording industry - has presented the beleaguered Napster with a list of over 130,000 recordings that must be removed from its song-swapping service. This follows the court injunction issued earlier this month requiring Napster to bar the transfer of songs specified by the copyright holders. ...more

Another anti-virus test defeats Microsoft Live OneCare

According to a new set of tests, Microsoft's anti-malware product, Live OneCare has again trailed in tests against rival products. The software was only one of 17 products that failed to come up to scratch in a run-off conducted by Austrian anti-virus testing company AV Comparatives. ATi ramps up memory speed

Set Radeons at 800Mhz ATi says that users can expect big performance gains from its product range next year with new memory technologies. Specifications for the third generation of double data rate (DDR) DRAM for graphics, known as GDDR3 have been completed in collaboration with Infineon, Elpida and Hynix Semiconductor. GDDR3 will initially provide memory clocks of 500MHz, with headroom for up to 800MHz. ...more
