Sun and Kodak settle out of court

SOAP speeds binary data across the Net

The body that governs Internet standards is bidding to speed the transmission of large amounts of binary data over the Net. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has released three W3C Recommendations to improve SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol)-based Web services. These involve the inclusion of binary data along with XML documents (XML-binary Optimized Packaging, XOP), improved addressing for SOAP messages (Message Transmission Optimization Mechanism, MTOM) and the ability to access cached copies of external data (Resource Representation SOAP Header Block functionality, RRSHB). ...more

Kazaa fights back with lawsuit against the RIAA

The owner of the Kazaa P2P file sharing software has filed a lawsuit against the RIAA, the body that represents the major US record labels, and movie studios, accusing them of using an unauthorised version of Kazaa known as Kazaa Lite. HP files suit against 'grey market' reseller

HP has filed a law suit alleging civil conspiracy, common-law fraud and breach of contract against two companies for defrauding HP out of more than $8.6mn in discounts.
